IMPHAL, September 5: The 32nd Senior Men and Women State Level Handball Tournament commenced today at the Citizens’ Club, Soibam leikai, Wangkhei Khunou ground. The tournament which has been organised under the Manipur Handball Association will continue till September 9.
In the first match of the tourney played today, host CC defeated ESU, Wangkhei by 17-10 in the Men’s event.
The scorers for CC are N Ibungcha (6 goals), M Sanjesh (5), N Prince (2), W Michael, M Thompson, Y Romario and H Ajit all scored one each.
Indra Sagar (4 goals), M Johnson (3), Bhabananda, G Bablu and Nilakanta scored one each for ESU.
In the second match of the day, Men’s event, MPSC defeated YLK, Chingarel Tejpur by 11-3.
Dinachandra, Kh Mocha, H Inaocha scored two each while L Jayenta, Y Becker, L Brojen and H Prem scored one each for MPSC.
S Sanajaoba and Romio scored 2 goals and one goal respectively for YLK.
In the women’s event, host CC defeated YLK by 22-6, scorer L Anita (5 goals), T Ranju (4), Ch Laxmi and A Rebica three each and O Sanathoi, W Rebica and M Sujata scored two each while, Kh Geeta Sana scored one.
S Sanatombi scored three, and L Sanjeta scored two while K Nanda scored one for YLK.
In the evening session, 11 9 TA defeated ESU by 29-13 in the men’s section.
The scorers for 119 TA are Sh Ningthem Sharma (9 goals), N Sanathoi (7), Sh Sunderchand (4), T Romen (4) and N Arjun (4), while the scorers for ESU are Th Sashikanta (5), K Nandakishore (3), S Indrasagar (2), M Thompson (2) and I Deepak (1).
The IMC team defeated PC by 22-12 in another match of the men’s event.
The scorers for IMC are, M Prembrata (8 goals), S Joychandra (6), N Surjit (3), Kh Ajit (2), L Manglemba (2) and S Priyokumar (1).
The PC scorers are Romen (5), Ajit (3), Ranjit (1), Roshikanta (1), Javed (1) and Robinson (1).
