IMPHAL October 15: Ever since the state of Manipur attained statehood on 14 September 1972, there has been a common drive by a group of people seeking the reason why there is still a death of more 187 paediatric cases in RIMS department.
In recent times, Regional Institute of Medical Science has been uplifted by the central government at par with the All India Institute of Medical Science in Delhi.
There has also been a case of this department of not being able to save three more pediatrics and their reason unknown till date.
The doctors posted in this department includes 10 doctors and among them one Professor, and one head, three professors and two assitance professors and besides that they have three registrar, one senior resident and a regular doctor to do the job besides the post graduate student and the those doing internship.
According the annual report, the number of cases treated with 29,105, while among them includes 15,724,
Out of them, 123, 381 were admitted through Out patient Department and a total of 2,514 patients were admitted to the words.
According to the hospital sources, the high number of dead cases amongst the pediatric cases is know under investigation why the number of dead have increased in the last few years.
When contacted by the IFP and inquired about the increase of number of dead among the state pediatric cases in their of department, the head of the department declined to give any comments or answers to why there has been an increase in the number of expiry cases amongst their department.
He further stated, on the Vice Chancellor of the institute as has the sole authority to announce or made public on any issues that should be known public.
