IMPHAL, October 4: Commissioner Higher & Technical Education K Moses Chalai today conducted an interaction programme on how to develop the NIT, Manipur today at Hotel Imphal.
NIT Manipur Chairman and a distinguished professor of ISRO, Prof. YS Rajan Chairman NIT, Manipur attended the interaction as the main guest.
The discussion was also attended by scientists and several academicians.
The discussion mulled how to find ways to promote technical studies in the state.
Commissioner Moses Chalai initiated the discussion with a brief introduction of the subject and the main invitee.
Prof YS Rajan carried forward the discussion with a brief introduction on the NIT Manipur.
He stressed on the various facilities provided in the institute.
He enquired from the attending academicians on how to attract well qualified faculties and management into the institute.
He also placed before during the discussion that the government has maintain a 50 percent seats reserved for students from the state, which is unheard off in even states like Tripura.
He further expressed that there has been a lot of improvement in the institute since its first year of inception.
Among the several views placed before the discussion, some of the present academicians also shared the need of having senior/retired and well experienced professors as faculty members of the institute, a proper dean, improvement of infrastructure, etc.
IFP reporter Bisheswar who also attended the discussion shared the need to spread an extensive awareness of the technical studies in the state.
He also expressed that even though schools have technical studies like Engineering Drawing in their syllabus from the higher Secondary level, students seem to unaware of such subjects.
Prof YS Rajan ended the discussion by inviting more interaction on the issue in the future.
