Discussion on `water and its issues`

IMPHAL, Oct 20: A panel discussion on Water and its issues at Imphal held on October 20 has viewed that there is no shortage of water in Imphal, said a press statement issued by the Indian Science Congress Association, Imphal Chapter convener Arun Kumar.

The statement said that the panel discussion was organized by the Indian Science Congress Association, Imphal Chapter, Manipur University under the aegis of the Indian Science Congress Association in commemoration of the centenary celebration of ISCA on October 20.

The discussion was held at the VC’s court room, MU, said the statement.

The Panel discussion was inaugurated and by Manipur University VC Prof HNK Sarma and presided by former General Secretary, ISCA-Kolkata Dr. Ashok K. Saxena, it said.

While welcoming the panellist, ISCA Imphal Chapter convenor Prof Arun Kumar introduced the subject. There were more than 15 panel experts who gave their deliberations during the discussion.

All the panellist were of the view that, there is no shortage of water in Imphal and suggested that during the raining season, the water should be conserved. It was also suggested to adopt roof-top water harvesting technology by the public if the area is more than 500 sq.m, it said.
