IMPHAL, October 20: The combined force of Bishnupur police commando and the personnel of 33 Assam rifle have arrested one cadre of KYKL, who is also an employee of Manipur state archive, government of India, as said by the SP of Bishnupur, Radheysyam during a press conference which was held at Bishnupur police station, yesterday.
The arrested person has been identified as Wahengbam Markanto Singh alais Umakanta alais Ahal, 58, son of W Ibomcha from Nambol kongkham leirak.
One 9.mm pistol along with magazine and three live rounds, and a hand grenade was recovered from the possession of the arrested person. The SP further said that he was involved in extortion, serving of monetary demands letters to the general public and government office and officials of Nambol areas.
The SP further said that it is very unfortunate to arrest a government employee, for performing various illegitimate activities, like extortion, serving demands notes etc.
During the press conference the police team also displayed the sized mine-bomb, to the media personnel, which was apprehended on 17 October from 4 KCP (MC) carders. Further the SP added that the timely action of the combined team has able to prevent the untoward incident that might happen in the district.
