IMPHAL, October 20: HDFC Bank Group Head, Retail Branch Banking, Navin Puri visited Imphal on October 19.
According to a press release, the group head met Minister for Industries and Sericulture, Govindas Konthoujam during his visit to the state.
Puri discussed the bank`s growth and business in the State with him and informed various activities undertaken by the Bank for the people of the State, especially the people living below Poverty Line.
He informed that all such activities are being undertaken by the branches at various locations in the State, the release added.
HDFC Bank, the second largest Private Sector Bank in the country was incorporated in Aug 1994. It started commercial operations in January 1995.
As of Sept 12, the bank has 2620 branches in 1454 locations and more than 10000 ATMs in the country, the release said.
In Manipur, HDFC Bank started its operations in 2011 by opening its Imphal branch on June 15, 2011, the release said.
At present, the bank has four branches in the State and will be opening more branches, it said.
The release said HDFC Bank will open branches with modern banking facilities in under-banked areas in the state where banking facility is not adequate.
In addition to deposit mobilization, HDFC bank in Manipur is lending to all sections of people. Loan facilities are available at all branch locations from the day of launch, it continued.
The bank extends loans like two wheeler loan, car loan, gold loan, home loan, commercial vehicle loan, working capital, commodity finance, construction equipment, loan against property etc to customers.
The bank is committed to uplift poor people living below poverty line as a part of corporate social responsibility. The bank has targeted to uplift 15 million people from below poverty line by 2015 in the country.
The Bank has financed 1.1 million people below Poverty line and helped them to create assets for sustainable living pan India.
The same facility is also available in Manipur which will help the people living below poverty line in the state to improve their standard of living, the release said. The Bank is going to further enhance Priority Sector lending and Agribase funding.The bank has placed dedicated resources in the state to take care of this through its branches.
