Prithiviraj feted at home constituency

IMPHAL, October 22: A felicitation programme for the newly appointed Parliamentary Secretary of Youth Affairs & Sports and Tourism, M Prithiviraj Singh was held today at INA Memorial Hall, Moirang organized by Moirang Block Congress Committee, Moirang Block Youth Congress Committee and Moirang Block Mahila Congress Committee.        

Speaking at the function, the newly appointed Parliamentary Secretary highlighted the works, which will be taken up by his departments in the near future.

He said that a rupees ten crore project each for building two district sports complex in the state is on the pipeline ready to be executed.

The government has also nodded the approval on re-setting up of ‘Sendra’ as tourist spot and a multi-purpose hall too will be coming up soon in Moirang, he further said.

Even though Moirang has Loktak Lake, people are still facing problem to get potable water. In order to solve this problem of inadequate potable water supply, a water supply project is underway at Mamang Chingjao by state PHED and 50 percent of the work is completed, he continued.

The foundation stone has already been laid for building a double storey market complex at Moirang at the cost of rupees 50 lakh and it is targeted to complete within two years, he said.

The Public Health Sub-centre at Kwakta will be upgraded to Public Health Centre. Doctors will be available at the centre round the clock and other health facilities will also be available, he said.

Under the state tourism department, the ‘Sana Konung’ (Manipur’s royal palace) will be renovated, he said and added that all the roads in his constituency will be black topped.

The function was attended by Salam Gopal Singh, former MLA of Morang A/C; Md Saukat Ali, president, MBCC; Hemam Bir Singh, social worker; Md Matlip, social worker; Md Nur Rahman, social worker as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
