Rich tributes paid to former Minister

IMPHAL, October 16: Rich tributes were paid to former Minister Md Allauddin Khan, who died of cancer at Dharmasala Cancer Hospital, New Delhi yesterday, with state honour here at the state Congress Bhavan today.

The former Minister’s body reached Imphal today late morning at around 11:45 am at Tulihal Airport and was received by Minister Franchis Ngajokpa, MLA Amin Shah, other Congress workers and his supporters at the airport. 

From the airport, the Minister’s body was taken to Congress Bhavan, where floral tributes were paid with state honour.

Chief Minister O Ibobi led his council of ministers, Congress MLAs and other party members in paying tributes to the late Congress minister who held the post of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and MOBC twice in two different terms.

People present at the function observed one minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed leader. 

Chief Minister O Ibobi said that the untimely death of the Muslim leader is a great lost for the state. “During his time as a Minister he had done a number of developmental works for the state and has also taken up many things for the welfare of the minority community.”

Later, his death body was taken to his native place Kiyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai, where his last rites were performed.

Allauddin died at the age of 53. He is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters.
