IMPHAL, October 17: State eves started their 2nd Hockey India Senior Women’s National championship campaign on a winning note today.
The state eves crushed the Andhra Pradesh girls by 8-0 in their Pool B match today at Bhopal today. The scorers for the Manipuri team are Sangai Ibemhal (13th, 52nd), Manorama (10th, 40th), Thokchom Ranjita Devi (14th, 37th), Pinky (26th), Naobi (56th).
Sangai Ibemhal was also awarded the match of the match award for her excellent performance.
The state team will be meeting last year’s runners’ up Haryana at 5pm.
The state sub-junior boys defeated Assam by 7-0 in the 2nd Hockey India Sub-Junior Boys’ and Girls’ National championship at Patna.
The goals were scored by Robinson (18th, 36th, 50th), Mani (19th, 40th, 51st) and Rohendro (15th).
The state will play Tripura tomorrow at the same venue at 4:30pm.
On the other hand the state sub-junior girls team was defeated by Jharkhand 4-0.
