IMPHAL, October 25: Students of TG Higher Secondary School, Imphal staged demonstration by blocking the roads today morning at around 10:30 am, infront of the state Raj Bhawan’s gate, protesting against the alleged rape case of a class 12 student of the school.

A team of Imphal Police came and stop them from blocking the road and forced the students to their school. Later, some representatives of the students were allowed to meet the state Home Minister, where the students submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister.

The memorandum demanded the state government to award capital punishment for Willam, a CDO driver, who allegedly committed the crime and Tarun, singer and digital film actor, who allegedly help William in committing the crime.

Earlier, before the students start blocking the roads, they staged a sit in protest in front of their school gate holding placards, “Girls are not your enemy don’t betray us,” “do not delay hang the rapists or else we well skin them alive,” “whom shall we trust when artist and security force started raping us?” “Justice Delay is justice denied, hang the rapist and don’t invite agitation.”

The student also shouted slogans like “we want justice,” “hang the rapist and other involve.”

The students protestor were brought in control after a team led by SDPO Imphal police and other police officials came to the spot.

Speaking with media persons, finance secretary of the students’ organisation of the school, Bideshwori said that the two culprits should be awarded a capital punishment in the earliest so that such type of crime does not happen again in the future.

She further said that such type of crimes are happening because of the state government’s failure to award capital or befitting punishment to the culprit and letting them roaming free after spending only a few months in the jail.

“The students of the school strongly condemned the beastly action by the two and also feel that it is a crime against the women especially against the school going girls,” she added.
