IMPHAL, October 9: Thoubal SP Dr Ak Jhalajit today called a press conference at his office chamber and announced the arrest of two RPF/PLA cadres including a woman activist along with explosives during a search operation at Thoubal Bazar.
Speaking to media persons, on October 8, Thoubal district police cdos conducted search operation at Thoubal Bazar and arrested two cadres of RPF/PLA including a woman activist identified as Thokchom Sambi alias Khamba alias Jack, 29 son of Th Shenjai Singh of Heirok Pt III, Thokchom Leikai and Manyengbam ningol Ningthoujam ongbi Memacha alias Omita alias Thoibi Devi, 33 wife of (L) Th Damu Singh of Lilong Chajing CHingkhong Leikai at about 1:20pm.
The police officer continued that several explosives were recovered from the two activists.
The recovered items include one IED wrapped by newspapers and transparent cellutap weighing approximately 5 kgs, one Alkaline battery pack sealed marked as Sanyo (6LF22/9V), one booster properly sealed with black tap, a milky white remote control mark as RS with steel antennae and two nos of electric detonators inserted in a black colour metal pipe, one Chinese hand grenade concealed inside a lady hand bag (Orange colour), one Nokia Mobile handset and a voter ID card in the name of the woman.
The SP further said that on further questioning, the two disclosed that they are working under the command of Mayanglambam Nanao Singh of Singjamei Kshetri Leikai, an IED expert of PLA/RPF.
He also said that Thokchom Sambi revealed that he was a trained cadre of PLA/RPF having army no 1932 of 99 batch, 2009 trained at Tanal, Myanmar and actively involved on the blast of September 14 at about 4:20pm at Heirok part III Tomal Makhong against the foot patrol party of the 116 Bn BSF causing injuries to a personnel of the BSF.
Memacha Devi further revealed that the bomb was handed over to Sambi after getting the bomb from Nanao, he said.
The two also revealed that the IED was brought for the purpose of attacking the security forces in Thoubal district.
The SP further said that on October 8, a combined team of the Thoubal cdo and 27 AR conducted operation at Lamjao Awang Leikai and arrested one cadre of PREPAK identified as Elangbam Priyokumar Singh alias Hemchand alias Nanao, 23 son of E Hemanta Singh of Lamjao Awang Leikai at about 10am and recovered one .32 pistol with 2 live rounds, one Chinese made hand grenade, two demand letters of PREPAK, one lemon mobile hand set with voda SIM No 9444277857.
On further questioning, the individuls identified himself as an active cadre of PREPAK and working under the command of s/s capt Ingobi of Sugunu Heikrujam.
The police officer further informed that October 8, another combined team of the Tbl cdo and 27 AR arrested a woman cadre of PREPAK identified as Naorem (o) Memchoubi Devi alias Mochabi, 38 wife of N Ibo Singh of Kakching Sumang Leikai.
She was arrested during a search operation conducted at Kakching Chumnang Parking.
A team of the TBL cdos and 28 AR and 42 AR also arrested a cadre of the KCP (Noyon) identified as one Wahengbam Inao alias Nanao Singh, 31 son of W Tomba Singh of Arongkhunou and recovered one 9mm pistol with 5 live rounds.
