UBI building ransacked

IMPHAL, October 22: A sit-in-protest was held today below the UBI Building complex, Thangal Bazar, Imphal, condemning the actions of one Sarungbam Premananda aged about 40, son of S Birahari of Singjamei Mayembam Leikai who forcefully intruded the disputed premise and ransacked a huge amount of movable property of various stalls situated at the UBI premises on 18 of this month.

Today the desperate tenants of the complex, walk-out in front of the UBI premises and then held a sit-in-protest demanding the govt. to punish S Premananda and his associates, under law for creating nuisance, dacoity and looting.

A reliable source have maintained that S Premananda, with his men around 15-20 in number armed with gas cutters and others deadly equipment, starts breaking and destroying the tenants property for not disposing and leaving their respective stalls.

According to a press release from the tenants and the owner of the complex, the UBI building complex located at Thangal Bazar stands in the name of one Nahakpam Mangi, s/o late N Bira. And the same place is in dispute within two brothers of N Mangi.

The release further added that a legal suit is also been pending in the court of the civil judge, senior division bench no. 1, Imphal east and the case has been awaited for disposal within six months under a vide no. of Imphal bench of Guwahati hight court.

S Premananda and his men has taken away the collapsible iron-shutters of the said premise, and also threatened the safety of the building, added the release.
