Woman trafficker arrested with heroin

IMPHAL, October 18: The Narcotic Cell police today arrested a woman along with banned drug Heroin worth rupees ten lakh, in the International Market, from near Imphal Police Station.

According to police, the arrested woman has been identified as Abem Begum, 33, wife of Sahidur of Hapta Golapati.

Briefing media persons, Officer-in-Charge of Narcotic Cell, K Ranjit said that after receiving specific information that a woman has headed towards Imphal from Moreh along with a huge amount of banned drugs on a white Maruti Van, a combined team of SIU and Narcotic Cell conducted checking/frisking near Imphal Police Station area.

A woman came on a Maruti Van loaded with detergent powder packets, when the team checked the detergent packets, the banned drug was found inside a detergent packet well packed. When they measured the weight of the seized packet it weighted 100 grams, he said.

On questioning, the arrested woman revealed that she bought the drugs from Moreh for Rs 1,100 per gram and it was to be sold locally for Rs 2,000 per gram. The seized drug is worth rupees ten lakh in the International Market, he added.
