IMPHAL, October 28: A reception ceremony cum get-together function of all the newly elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions under 39-Sugnu Assembly Constituency was held today at Wangoo Laipham Chithek Leikai.
The function was attended by K Ranjit Singh, MLA of Sugnu A/C, Kh Nimaichandra Singh, president, Sugnu Block Congress Committee (I) as chief guest and president respectively.
Addressing the function as chief guest, K Ranjit said that in his earlier term as he was working as a Minister, he was more involved in state wide issues and was not able to concentrate much at his constituency. But now that he only an MLA, he will focus more in the developmental works in his constituency.
The 25 percent line department works fund under MGNERGS allotted to local MLA, for him, it was not used in his earlier term. But this time, he will implement the line department works of 25 percent, the MLA assured.
In the earlier term, rupees 70 crore was sanctioned for Bishnupur district and 10 crore for Thoubal district under MGNERGS. But this time there is a possibility for receiving rupees 60-70 crore MGNERGS fund for Sugnu Kendra.
He further appealed the Pradhans of Gram Panchayats, Zilla Parishad Members and Ward Members to work sincerely with co-operation.
The MLA further continued that there is suspicion that some corrupt government officials along with Pradhan and Zilla Parishad Members are siphoning off the MNREGS funds. So, for his Assembly Constituency, he will personally check whether the works has been done or not before making the payments, the MLA said.
The job card holder should personally collect their payment through their respective accounts, MLA or Pradhan or Members are not allowed to collect the payments, MLA said.
The MLA further said that he will urge the postmasters to deposit the payments of job card holders to their respective accounts.
He also appealed the newly elected Zilla Parishad Member, Pradhan and Ward Members to remember their oaths and work accordingly.
