Zeliangrong ancestral expedition tour flag off

IMPHAL, October 7:  The “Zeliangrong Ancestral Expedition Tour” from October 6 to 22 was flag off by TR Zeliang, Minister of Planning and Animal Husbandry, Govt of Nagaland yesterday at Town hall, Perem District in Nagaland. Around 2000 Zeliangrong people were seen taking part at the ceremony.

The team numbering around 43 Zeliangrong people from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland consist of doctors, scholars, social workers, theologians, politicians, students and intellectuals.

Today the team visited Rani Cave, Puilwa village, Benreu village in Nagaland.

Further the team will be visiting NC Hills, Laisong, Hangrum, Asalu, Jatinga Hills, Binakandi to Bubhon Cave in Assam.

The team will also be visiting the birth place of Rani Gaidinlu and the place where her memorial tomb in Longkao village, Kambiron,  birth place of Haipou Jadonang, Barak waterfall and Zeilad lake in Tamenglong District, Tharon Cave, Yang Khullen and other ancestral places of Zeliangrong people in Manipur.    

“There are 283 Zeliangrong villages in Manipur, 80 in Nagaland, 122 in Assam. The tour is being organized to save the folktale related places,” said Pamei Tingenlung, president of All Zeliangrong Students Union at AZSU office at Namdunlong.
