IMPHAL, November 29: The All Manipur Bar Association will decide whether to continue with its ongoing stir or not after its two member team including Senior Advocate and president N Kumarjit and general secretary Roshni Piba who are presently in New Delhi to meet the Union Law Minister and Supreme Court Judges return to the state on December 3, said the association’s vice president Chingabam Dhananjoy.

The AMBA has imposed a ceasework strike demanding the installation of a separate High Court of Manipur consisting of seven judges and non absorption of any Judges sitting in the present Guahati High Court except for the two Judges elevated from Manipur in the Manipur High Court.

Speaking to media persons, this evening at the association’s office, he said the two member team will also be meeting Gauhati High Court Chief Justice at Guwahati on their return journey.

He continued that the two member team has already met the Supreme Court Justice, AK Patnaik who is also the NE region incharge.

The meeting with the SC Justice was quite encouraging as he acknowledged the association’s demand as genuine during the meeting as conveyed to the association by the two member team, he added.

The All Manipur Bar Association had imposed a cease work strike since November 7 crippling legal proceedings in the state for the second time this year.

The association had gone into a cease work strike for the first time earlier this year on June 11 for the same demands.

The cease work strike was suspended on July 9 following an assurance from the then Union law Minister Salman Khurshid.

While acknowledging that several cases have been left pending in the High Court owing to the cease work strike of the association, he appealed to the people of the state to bear with the association for some time.
