IMPHAL, November 14: The All Manipur Students Union, AMSU has appealed to the people of the state to support the 5th General Conference under the theme “Our Resources – Our Future” to be organised by the North East Students’ Organisation, NESO at Kohima from November 27-30, 2012.
Addressing media persons in a press conference held at its hqs today AMSU president Thokchom Suresh said, panel discussions on the topic “Impact of Illegal Migration of Foreigners to North East” and “Redefining Education System in North East” will be conducted on the 2nd and 3rd day respectively of the conference.
Students from North East, resource persons and scholars will be participating in the discussion.
During the panel discussions, the means to protect the political, social and economical rights of the indigenous people, illegal foreigners in the region and racial discrimination of NE people in mainland India will be discussed, he said.
Chief Ministers of Sikkim Pawan Kumar Chamling, Arunachal Pradesh Nabam Tuki, Nagaland Neiphiu Rio and president of Naga Hoho Keviletuo will attend the conference as chief guest (Inaugural), chief guest (Valedictory), chief host and special guest respectively.
AMSU has also appealed the businessmen in the state to stop selling goods at elevated price in connection with the Ningol Chakkouba festival.
