Badhte Kadam IV flag off

IMPHAL, November 20: ‘Badhte Kadam IV,’ a national discoverability campaign by ‘Spastic Society of Manipur’ to spread message of hope, peace, dignity, human rights and empowerment of persons with disabilities, was flag off today at Lamyanba Sanglen, Palace compound.

The flag off ceremony function was attended by DC Imphal West, K Radhakumar Singh and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee, boxer MC Mary Kom as the chief guest and president respectively.

Spastic Society of Manipur had organized the Badhte Kadam 2 and Badhte Kadam 3, a mega discoverability awareness raising National campaign for persons with disabilities in association with National Trust for the welfare of persons with Autism, CP, MR and multiple disabilities and with the support from the state government and was successful in achieving its objective of mass awareness and empowering persons with disabilities in the state. 

This year Badhte Kadam 4 is scheduled for November/December 2012 in eight venues in Manipur. The theme is “Igniting Community Spirit, Celebrating Inclusion & Community Participation.” The campaign is to increase understanding of the issues faced by the people with disabilities in our country.  

As a part of the inaugural function, five persons with disabilities, who are achievers despite hardship, including three persons with disabilities who were selected this year in MPSC civil exam, were also felicitated.
