BJP date with Loktak scam: Nov 15

IMPHAL, November 4: Manipur’s Loktak Lake scam would be taken up for discussion by BJP central leadership on November 15 at New Delhi, according to a BJP leader.

Talking exclusively to IFP, BJP leader P Chandrasekhar Rao said that the K-Pro Infra Works Pvt. Ltd is the brainchild of Ibobi specially set up to embezzle development funds.

He had earlier linked Chief Minister O Ibobi and his family with the Loktak Lake scam.

He said that the matter will be taken up at a meeting of BJP leaders scheduled to be held on November 15 at New Delhi.

The facts of the scandal with documentary evidence will be presented at the meeting so that it can be taken up at the floor of the Parliament.

It will be urged then to set up a committee led by a retired Supreme Court Judge for further investigation into the murky state of affairs happening in Manipur, he said.

He left for Gauhati at around 6 pm today.

Meanwhile, state unit leaders of opposition parties have set up camp in New Delhi to appraise their respective Central leaders on the various corruption scams.

Dr. M Nara Secretary of CPI, Manipur State Council reached Delhi today evening.

Dr Nara informed IFP that President of Janata Dal (United) , M Tombi Singh along with representatives of CPM,BJP,MPP, AITC and JD (S) will reach the Capital tomorrow.

The representatives will meet members of both ruling and opposition at the centre and apprise them of the various corruption scandals happening in the State. The scam of Loktak phumdi clearance, fraudulent appointments in the Manipur Assembly Secretariat and the case of missing wages in the State Social Welfare Department will be highlighted to the concerned, he said.

Appointments are sought to meet the Central leaders and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, he added. 

Meanwhile, several Congress ministers and MLAs joined the Congress rally held at Ramlila grounds today.

Besides Deputy CM Gaikhangam, the state ministers who participated in the rally include Works Minister Dr Ratankumar, Irrigation Minister Ngamthang Haokip, Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir, Social Welfare Minister Ak Mirabai and Commerce Minister Govindas Konthoujam.

State MLAs present at the rally include M Prithviraj, S Bira, Preshow Shimray, L Nandakumar, Chaltonlien Amo, Manga Vaiphei, K Newmai, TN Haokip, W Brajabidhu,Ng Bijoy, DK Korungthang and Y Surchandra.

MPs of both outer and inner parliamentary constituencies, Thangso Baitae and T Meinya also attended the Congress Rally.
