Blackout in city

IMPHAL, November 4: Following the collapse of a High Transmission electrical line at Khuman Lampak connecting to the Kangla feeder, the state capital remained paralyzed and power has been rationed to VVIP areas only.

Reports said that the line at Khuman Lampak power grid snapped in the morning today. The line connects to Kangla feeder station and further supply electricity to the 33 KV sub-station located inside Keisampat power house complex.

Due to the fault, the city areas including Uripok, Sagolband, Tiddim line,Thangmeiband and commercial areas of Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar which has pre-paid metering etc suffered a blackout and electronic functions were hindered immensely. The local cable network was also affected.

However, power was diverted from the Nambul mapal 11 KV line to the VVIP and VIP areas of Raj Bhawan, CM Bungalow, Babupara, Secretariat, Sanjenthong and All India Radio station etc.

There were complaints from the public that the wire which had snapped in the morning was not repaired even till late in the evening, pointing out the inefficiency of the state Power Department.
