IMPHAL, November 7: Three Councillors of the Imphal Municipal Council reportedly removed from their post by the Chairperson, N Raghumani has today countered that the IMC Chairperson is not empowered to take such a decision.
Speaking to media persons today at the Manipur Press Club, Councilor L Arunkumar of Ward No. 4 (finance), M Subhaschandra of Ward No 4 (Works) and Sh Umesh of Ward No 21 (Sanitation) said they were appointed by the Council of the IMC and as such decisions can only be taken by the Council alone.
The three also said that if in case the Chairpersons’order was approved by the Council, they should have received the official orders individually; which they are yet to receive, they added.
Further continuing, the three charged the Chairperson of targeting the three after they had joined with others to initiate a No Confidence Motion against the Chairperson.
They have further demanded a clarification from the Chairperson on the issue.
