IMPHAL, November 20: MEELAL today called a press conference at its head office announcing a meeting on November 24 at the SCERT conference hall regarding the preservation of indigenous languages of the state.
MEELAL president Sadokpam Tomba Mangang has requested all lecturers, professors and related department officers to attend the meeting.
He further said that there is a mass apprehension about our own language going extinct in the near future as the youths today seem to be depending more on foreign languages.
He further informed that no objection or claim on the issue will be entertained in case it is not brought up during the said meeting.
The organization also produced mineral water bottles of the Uni Water company and Fresh Water company for not labelling the bottles in Meitei Mayek.
He said the organization has also set a five day deadline to Spring Water and Magic Dew companies.
It has further appealed to all companies in the state to label their products in Meitei Mayek.
