IMPHAL, November 9: A personnel of the Manipur Rifles who was found with burn injuries inside a toilet succumbed at the RIMS this morning around 5:30pm.
The personnel, identified as Rifleman Kh Staihoi Chothe, 33 son of Kh Rajendro alias Rachendra of Khongkhang village was found inside the toilet of one Hentingmang along the Pallel Aimol road with burn injuries on his right earlobes, chest, lower abdomen, thighs, and private parts on November 6 around 7:45pm. His burn injuries seemed to be inflicted using a blow lamp, sources said.
Family members had reported the incident to the police around 11am yesterday.
Staihoi Chothe was married before to a woman from whom he separated after having two daughters and had had recently married his second wife in August this year and staying together at Kamjong.
Meanwhile according to family members, Staihoi along with his father had left Khongkhang village and after reaching Chandonpokpi, his father had stayed behind with his brother Kh Lamshu while he carried on with the journey. Soon enough he went to Chumbang village and stayed at his sister Lunglim’s place.
On the morning of November 6, he had left his sisters residence to return to Khongkhang village.
However, he was found inside the toilet of Hentingmang with the burn injuries.
Meanwhile, the dead body has been handed over to family members after post mortem was conducted at the JNIMS.
