IMPHAL, November 9: IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip has today inaugurated the Neat Market and Collection Shed along the NH 37 at Dinthong Laijang village, Saitu.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the Minister said that due to its close proximity with the National Highway, the market could be possible removed when the road widening of the highway is done.
And as such efforts will be made to construct a market shed with concrete building and modern bathroom facilities, he said.
He further urged the people to make it an all community market shed.
NERCOMP, project manager N Sukajit was the guest of honour said with the inauguration of the market shed today; people of the nearby areas can now save a lot of time and energy used in taking their products to sell at Imphal.
North East Region Community Resource Management Project, Senapati district Community Resource Management Society and International Funding for Agriculture Development funded the Marketing shed.
Later in the day, the IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip flagged off a 5 km long road at Kharam Pallel, Saitu.
Speaking to a gathering at the Kharam Pallel Baptist Church said in collaboration with the state Horticulture Department, plantain plantation will be encouraged on the hill slopes of the area in order to develop the economic status of the area.
The Minister was accompanied by Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Kangpokpi Deputy Director, Kh Lokeshor.
Since there has been plantain plantation in the area from before the effort will suitable for the area.
The road which was opened today was constructed under the DoNER, NEC funding of Rs 15 lakh by NERCOMP.
Meanwhile, the Minister also assured Rs 20 lakhs for the construction of a church at the Kharam Pallel.
