Praful Patel for Manipur territorial integrity

IMPHAL,November 9: The President of NCP,Manipur state unit and MLA, L.Ibomcha Singh and Union Minister, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Praful Patel held a discussion  regarding the Indo- Naga peace talk and the Inner Line Permit system in Manipur for half an hour at the MLA’s official residence today.

According to the press release issued by the NCP, Patel assured the MLA that he would lobby the matter with the Union Ministers in the interest of the people and the state of Manipur to safeguard the territorial integrity of the state.

It further said that Singh handed over a representation on behalf of the NCP and the people of Manipur to the Union Minister.

In a memorandum submitted to the Union Minister by the MLA earlier, it stated that the geographical boundary of Manipur cannot and should not be altered or disintegrated at any cost in the name of alternative arrangement for the Naga inhabitants of Manipur on the demand of the NSCN,IM.

Concerning the Inner Line Permit, the memorandum mentioned that the Manipur State Assembly on July 13, 2012, had taken a resolution to implement the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation 1873, Inner Line Permit System, in Manipur. It also reminded the Union Minister that any section of the citizens residing in the territory of India, having a distinct language script or culture shall have the right conserve the same under the provision of Article 29, protection of interest of minorities.
