IMPHAL, Nov 14: The proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front has wished the people of Manipur and the women folk of the land especially on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
A statement of the outfit has said that the festival has been observed since time immemorial in Manipur.
It has also said that today, the face of the festival is changing along with the times. People seem to be more interested in gifts today which are mostly brought from outside Manipur.
The festival has turned into a race for gifts amongst the rich while, poor families are left watching.
The time has come to change the society from such practices, it said.
