Seminar on “reality of cure for HIV/AIDS & drug abuse” held

UKHRUL, November 3:  Thousands of people mostly from the students community converged at the Ukhrul town Hall for a constructive one day seminar on “reality of cure for HIV/AIDS & drug abuse”.

The function mainly focused on the campaign to combat the traumatized or stigmatized people living with HIV/AIDS and harm reduction phenomenon.

Dr James Haorah, Ph D, Associate professor, Department of pharmacology and Experimental NeuroscienceUniversity of Nebraska Medical Centre, Omaha, NE , USA, Dr. Pankaj Seth, Ph. D, Additional Professor and ScientistV. Neurovirology Division, National Brain Research Centre, Maneswar, Haryana and Dr. Shelpa Buch Ph.D, Professor, Department ofPharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience, University of Nebraska Medical Centre, Omaha, NE, USA attended as resource persons during the seminar.

The topics were focused on the cure for HIV/AIDS and drug abuse.

“Can we begin in Ukhrul?”, was the topic delivered by the first speaker, while the second speaker deliberated on the subject, “Are we doing enough to cure HIV/AIDSin India?”.

Dr. Shilpa Buch spoke on the main topic of the current scientific world approach to cure HIV/AIDS with innovative presentation which was followed by a group discussion and public interaction plus the question hours.

The seminar was organized by the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long, TMNL (Tangkhul Youth Council).

On the side-line of the function, the Scientists team from the country and abroad paid a visit to Ukhrul Leishiphgung Christian Hospital (LCH) for the joint strategic mission project.
