IMPHAL, Nov 27: The Central government is likely to hold tripartite talks along with Kuki militants and the state government by the first week of December regarding extension of the Suspension of Operation with the Kuki militants.
According to a reliable source, a meeting between representatives of the Central and state governments and Kuki militants will be held on December 5 at the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi.
Sources said that the Suspension of Operation between the government and the Kuki militants is likely to be extended by another three months during the talks.
However it is also learnt that the government authorities will be holding separate talks with the Kuki National Organization, KNO and the United Peoples Front on the same day before holding a combined meeting the same day.
According to the source the MHA will be represented by Joint Secretary, NE Shambhu Singh and Director (NE 1) Dr MC Mehanathan, while the state government will be represented by the state Chief Secretary DS Poonia, Principal Secy (Home) Dr J Suresh Babu and Addl DGP, LM Khoute.
