IMPHAL, December 7: The All Manipur Student Union today organized a reception of Sinam Prakash after his election to the post of secretary general of the North East Students’ Organization.
The reception ceremony was held at the AMSU hq library hall.
The ceremony was attended by AMSU advisor Khomdram Ratan Singh, AMSU president Th Suresh, AMSU former president Irengbam Jamesbond Mangang.
Newly elected Sinam Prakash said since Manipur merged into the Indian union there has been no development in the state. He said there have been several human rights violations in the state, however none of the stakeholders including both the state and central governments are ready to hear out the plights of the public.
There have been several movements in the state urging the centre to repeal AFSPA, including the record breaking hunger strike of Irom Sharmila however the government has failed to act accordingly.
He continued that he will carry out his duties for the welfare of the students and the state with all sincerity.
