IMPHAL, December 23: The Information Centre for Hills Area Manipur (ICHAM) has condemned the alleged assault on an actress at Chandel by a cadre of the NSCN (IM).
Addressing media persons in a press meet at Manipur Press Club today, President of ICHAM N Rajendro said the act of one Livingstone who is the self style Lieutenant Colonel of NSCN (IM) at Chandel was an act that an animal would hesitate to do.
“How would he say that he is not guilty when he assaulted the artist in front of thousands of people? Instead of playing hide and seek wouldn’t it be better that he apologize about the incident?” he asked.
In the meantime, many people coming from the hills to do their Christmas shopping in Imphal could not go back home due to the ongoing general strike. In this regard, ICHAM voiced its appeal to the state government to take up immediate measures and arrange for the bandh to be called off so that the people can go back home. Adding that ICHAM would support all further movements of the Film Forum Manipur, it also appealed for the bandh to be relaxed on account of Christmas.
