IMPHAL, December 13: The Manipur State Vector Born Disease Control Society has inaugurated the Review of Implementation of Global Fund Support IMCP-II in 7 North Eastern States at Nirmala Hotel, MG Avenue, today.
The function was attended by Minister, Health & Family Welfare Phungzathang Tonsing, Joint Director, NVBDCP Government of India, Dr Avdesh Kumar, Director of Health Services Government of Manipur, Dr A Bijoy Singh.
Speaking at the function Dr Avdesh Kumar said that the Northeastern states contribute to four percent of the Indian population whereas the region contributes to 18 percent of the total malaria infection and 22 percent of the death caused by Malaria.
He further said, the Manipur State Vector Born Disease Control Society lack man power surveillance over the required equipment and need more attention from the concern department to eradicate the vector born disease in the state.
During the function Minister, Health & Family Welfare, Phungzathang Tonsing said, 51 cases of Dengue were detected in 2007 which has come down to just three this year.
He further said that the Multi-Purpose Worker (MPW)’s have not been provided with regular salaries, however the pending salaries will be cleared within December this year.
He also assured that the authorities will try to increase the man power of the society.
