IMPHAL, December 9: The Kanglei Sport Academy (KANGLEISHA) players, who have represented India in the recently concluded 4th Asian Inter-Continental Karate-do Championship held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, were warmly received at a simple function held today at the residence of the academy’s chief instructor, Kh Sanjit at Keiyamgei Heibong Makhong.
The championship was organised by the All India Budokan Karate Federation under the aegis of World Union Karate-do Federation (WUKF) during November 21 to 25.
The reception function was attended by professor Joykumar, vice president of the academy and also the vice president of Manipur Judo association, Ak Chandrajit, general secretary of the academy, Th Bishojit, coach and member of Manipur Judo Association and Kh Nilamani, a member of the Academy as presidium members.
Speaking at the function, chief instructor Kh Sanjit said that altogether 24 players from the academy represented India and had won five medals for the country that include one gold, two silvers and two bronzes.
While expressing his satisfaction with the effort put on by the academy’s players at the championship, he said that his team will try to bring more medals in the next championship to come.
All India Budokan Karate Federation has given a confirmation to organise the national level Budokan Karate-do championship next year in Imphal to the Academy (Kangleisha), where more than one thousand Karate-do players from all over the country will participate in the championship, he added.
