IMPHAL, December 18: Even as court proceedings in the state has been affected by the cease work strike of the High Court Bar Association, Manipur, court buildings of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chandel was today inaugurated by Judge Supreme Court of India, Justice RM Lodha.
The inaugural function was organized by the Law and Legislative Affairs, Department Government of Manipur and attended by AK Goel, Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court, T Nandakumar, Judge, Manipur East and Executive Chairman, Manipur State Legal Services Authority, N Kotiswar, Judge, Gauhati High Court, S Shyamcharan, general secretary, All Manipur Bar Association, Th Ibohal, Ld Advocate General, Manipur and Nunglung Victor, MLA Chandel Assembly Constituency as presidium members.
“Look there may be genuine demands, but by agitations, you are creating a hurdle to justice delivery system”, said Justice RM Lodha referring to the present cease work strike of the Bar association.
“That on the one hand I am going to inaugurate a court building in aspect of providing justice at the door steps of Manipur, while on the other hand, the guardians of law, the lawyers, intend to intensify their agitation, that is an obstruction in justice delivery.”
He said, “… the energy must be collaborated and gathered to make the special judiciary strong and hence the justice delivery system”.
He continued, “Bring problems to the government’s notice, try to sort them out, you are going to have your High Court shortly, why agitate for these and that, yes let it function and once it starts functioning, you see how colourful and beautiful the flowers are, try to help, agitation is easy, destruction is easier but to do constructive work you have to put in track the intuition and devotion, to see that yes the institution has come up, let it go from infancy to childhood to adulthood and see how maturely it works”.
“I must congratulate each one of you for having a court of CJM at Chandel; shortly you are going to have a court of civil jurisdiction as well, try to ensure that people get justice and they don’t have to wait for too long queue.”
“With the figure which I have been told, with the competent judiciary that you have, and if the lawyers collaborate and cooperate, with the justice delivery system, and hence in quick disposing, Manipur can have a real justice dispensation apparatus which every other state in the country would not believe, the only thing is that you have to gather your energies and inborn yourself in ensuring that there is quick and quality dispensation of justice”, said the Sureme Court Judge.
Meanwhile, speaking at the function, local MLA Victor said that the day is a remarkable day as the locals of Chandel can now get justice in the district instead of going to Imphal.
