IMPHAL, Dec 6: A two-day seminar billed as the “Mega Tribal Seminar” will begin from December 7 organised jointly All Manipur Tribal Union, AMTU, Committee on Protection of Tribal Areas, Manipur, COPTAM, ATWO, ATCFM, TNAL and TLRCC at Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Imphal.
Issues on Hill Area Committee, HAC, land revenue, land demarcation, boundary, autonomy in hill districts of Manipur, Manipur hill area village authority Act of 1956/village authority election, functioning of hill district offices, forest reservation, tribal sub plan and decentralization of tribal development funds and then prevention of atrocities on ST/SC Act of 1989 will be deliberated.
In a manner to disseminate the constitutional tribal inherent rights to the common Manipur tribal people so as to educate them on such relevant issues, the seminar is being organised, said the organisers.
They then invite all tribal leaders, intellectuals, politicians, village chiefs to participate in the panel discussion of the seminar.
“Civilisation is very keenly relevant to tradition, custom and culture and as such, the `joint Manipur tribal leaders` felt very essential to disseminate some common tribal issues to the Manipur tribals pertaining to their constitutional inherent rights consonant with traditional land rights, customs and culture,” the organisers opined.
