IMPHAL, December 12: Education Minister Okendro on Tuesday reiterated his commitment to bring positive change in the education system of the state while speaking at the 92nd Anniversary Celebration function of Langmei Government High School, Tamei in Tamenglong district held yesterday at the school campus.
The anniversary celebration function was attended by Education Minister M Okendro Singh, Education (S) Director Dilip Singh and Z Kikhonbou Newmai as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
The Education Minister was also accompanied by M Yaishkul, Director, CAF & PD, Ranjan Yumnam, Additional Director, Hill Education Manipur and Saratchandra, Additional Director, Adult Education.
Speaking at the function, Education Minister Okendro said that the state government is trying hard to bring in a change in the education system in both hill and valley districts of that state, so that not even a single student of the state has to go to other states for their education.
He further expressed shock to learnt that the student of the school have to leave their studies after passing only class 10 due to lack of school for further studies.
The Education Minister assured the school authority as well as the locals of the area that the school will be upgraded to a higher secondary level at the earliest as possible time.
The state education department under the scheme, RMSA has upgraded many High Schools in the hill districts to a Higher Secondary School. Among that, five schools are in Tamei and surrounding areas.
He further informed that teacher’s quarters for the school would be build at the earliest. The education department has also finalised to send teachers in all the schools in the hill districts, where there is shortage of teachers.
The Minister assured that from next year March, the Teacher’s Eligibility Test (TET) will be conducted at every district head quarters of the state.
The government has also sanctioned a sum of rupees 87 crore under NPC for the construction and black topping of Kangpokpi to Tamei Road, the Minister said.
The Education Minister, who also holds the portfolio of CAF&PD, further informed that the government will build two FCS godowns with a capacity of five thousand metric tonnes in Tamenglong district and for the smooth supply of PDS items in the district.
All the supply items will be transported upto the district FCS godown by government vehicles and distribution of the PDS items will be done directly to the beneficiary from next year March onwards. Biometric machines will be used to ensure that every beneficiary receives their PDS items, the Minister said.
For checking the needs of the peoples, the state government will open up sub-divisional office in every district, the Minister added.
