IMPHAL, Dec 9: A newlywed woman hanged herself to death yesterday morning at around 10 at Kakyai Maning Leikai under Nambol Police Station, following a heat argument with her husband.
The woman has been identified as Thounaojam (O) Naobi, 18, wife of Th Ojit. Ojit’s father is from Utlou Makha Leikai but he has been living with his mother at Kakyai Maning Leikai after his parents got divorced.
According to police, the couple had a heated argument on boiling water issue which blew out of proportion after they started using abusive language towards each other’s parents.
Naobi hanged herself to death at their residence at around 10 am, while her husband was out. The couple have a six months old son, police said.
The husband has been detained by the police when he came to report the incident at Nambol Police Station, police added.
Police has taken up a case in regard to the incident and the death body has been deposited at RIMS morgue for post mortem tomorrow after an inquest of the death body by the Executive Magistrate.
Meanwhile, it may be mention here that Ojit’s mother also committed suicide by hanging herself to death at the same house a few years ago.
