IMPHAL, December 3: A five day State level Integration Camp on Youth for Promotion of Communal Harmony & Peace was inaugurated today at the Government Dance COlelge Hall, Palace Compound.
The camp, organized by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Imphal Zone will conclude on December 7.
Today’s inaugural function was attended by Parliamentary Secretary, YAS M Prithiviraj as chief guest and Manipur State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, chairman A Nabachandra Singh as president.
NYKS zonal director Jackie Ruivah in her key note address said the main objective of the camp is to promote solidarity, communal harmony, peace and non-violence amongst the youth of the state.
She continued, there is a need to bring unity, the sense of brotherhood, peace and communal harmony amongst the different communities of the state by abandoning any thoughts of enmity, hatred and other negative aspects.
She continued that state wide optimal participation of youths in the camp from all sections of the society and from all different categories such as caste, sex, religion, communities will bring a culture of healthy life.
She said the youths should not only participate in the camp but also be able to dedicate themselves at times of any natural calamities or any other state issues including communal riots.
The participants should also come out to save their cultural identities.
Manipur has 39 communities out of which youths from 15 communities numbering to 150 youths participated, she said.
Parliamentary Secretary M Prithiviraj appealed to the participants to preserve their own cultures and not to be led on by individuals with ulterior motives to disintegrate and break the state in small pieces.
He called upon the participating youths to be motivated enough to work for the development and unity of the state.
