Political parties` delegation to call on PM, HM

IMPHAL, December 26: A meeting of representatives of all political parties was convened to discuss the development in the state following the physical assault on actor Momoko by s/s lt col Livingstone Anal and the incident wherein he fired at two actors.

The meeting which started at around 3 pm and concluding at around 8 pm was held under the initiative of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh in the conference hall of his bungalow office.

A resolution was adopted at the meeting that a delegation of representatives of state political parties would call on the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister to apprise the latter of the present situation and happenings arising out of the Chandel incident in the state. Twenty eight representatives of various sixteen political parties attended the meeting. A representative of each political party delivered a speech on the Chandel incident expressing where each political party stood.

After a thorough discussion on the Chandel incident, the representatives present at the meeting strongly condemned the incident insisting on the arrest of NSCN (IM) s/s lt col Livingstone Anal by Govt. of India at the earliest and handing over of the offender to the state government.

They also appealed to all concerned to withdraw the general strike against the Chandel incident organized jointly by Film Forum Manipur (FFM), Manipur State Shumang Lila Council (MSSLC), All Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK) and civil society organizations and the 72 hours bandh by United Naga Council commencing from the midnight of December 26.
