IMPHAL, Dec 19: The Co-Ordinating Body of Trade Unions, Manipur today held a protest meeting at the Keishamapat Lairembi Community Hall against corruption, price rise and loss of natural resources.
The body comprises of AITUC, BMS, CITU, HMS, INTUC, TUCC, UTUC, AIUTUC, AICCTU, LPF, SEWA.
The meeting was attended by chairman of the co-ordinating body, L Shotinkumar, convenor, Ksh Shanta, vice president, All Manipur Nupi Marup, M Shakti, All Manipur Agri Workers Union, president S Nilakomol, gen sec Bharat Khet Mazdoor Union, N Jatishwar and gen sec Manipur Loumi Lup, H Ibobi and others.
Speakers at the meeting demanded that the statutory minimum wages for un-organized workers should be Rs 10000 per month, provision of bonuses, PF, social security and pensions to the unorganized workers.
They also spoke on attacks on workers and the importance of labour laws.
