IMPHAL, December 7: State Home Minister Gaikhangam presided a meeting today at his chamber on the security measures and arrangements taken in consideration of the proposed December 10 visit of AICC, general secretary Rahul Gandhi to the state.
According to a reliable source, the meeting was attended by the state Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary (H), Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau, Imphal Unit Jt Director and other top officials of the Army, BSF, Assam Rifles.
The source also maintain that the meeting discussed the security arrangement regarding the high profile visit to the state and decided to accord Z+ category security for the visiting AICC general secretary.
A state police security rehearsal will be conducted tomorrow at Kangla at 10am.
100 personnel each has been called for the rehearsal from all MR, IRB battalions and District police outlines, informed the source.
Meanwhile, a 22 member Special Protection Group led by Asst Inspector General Satyendra Giri has arrived into the state at 11am this morning.
The team which include two Senior Security Officers and 19 Security Officers have already inspected the venues where the AICC general secretary will be visiting, informed the source.
It is also learnt that a nine member team of the Intelligence Bureau (MHA) will be arriving in the state tomorrow.
