IMPHAL, December 6: Inaugural function of Two Days Training Programme on “Commodity futures market” was held today at Assembly Hall of College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal. The programme is being organised by Directorate of Extension Education CAU.
Speaking as Chief Guest at the function Asstt Managing Director of National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Ltd, Ahmedabad Dinesh Shukla said, farmers are needed to be sensitized on marketing. They have the mindset that after harvesting of their crops there would be inconveniences in marketing. Such mindset need to be changed.
Presided over by Dr M Premjit Singh, Director of Extension Education, CAU the function was attended by Dr M Rohinikumar Singh, Director of Research, CAU; and Dr N Iboton Singh, Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU as Guests of Honour.
During the function Dr N Iboton Singh stressed that after producing the crops farmers faces the problem of marketing. As the crops they produced are surplus in the market they gained no profit. The marketing system needs to be regulated by the government.
