CorCom claims responsibility for Republic Day blasts

IMPHAL, January 27: A press release from the Media Co-ordinator of the Co-ordinating Committee (CorCom) comprising of 7 major rebel groups: KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK(Pro), RPF, UNLF and UPPK has claimed responsibility for the bomb blasts in and around Imphal on January 25 and 26. It may be mentioned that four bombs had gone off on the eve of the Republic day function: one at the 1st  Battalion Manipur  Rifles  Campus; another at a garbage dump near Keishamthong bridge; a third one near the gate of the RDS school, Palace Compound and another at the Guwahati High Court complex in Chingmeirong. It has also claimed responsibility for another bomb which went off near the gate of the 3rd IRB at Wangbal in Thoubal district on January 26 around 9 in the morning.

The release said, “The bomb blast at the 1st Battalion MR campus which is the starting and finishing point for the State Republic Day observation is in keeping with the joint stand of like minded revolutionary groups in the region to boycott the Republic day functions.” It further added, “CorCom will continue its efforts to fight against all attempts to subvert the true revolutionary movements,” and expressed its appreciation to the public for supporting the call to boycott the Republic day functions.
