IMPHAL, Janurary 31: During a drive against unrecognized schools operating in the state which is being taken up by the Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), seven such schools were verified around Imphal area. This was stated during a press conference held at the head of DESAM at Keishampat Junction today.
Speaking to the media, A. Thoithoi President of DESAM said that as per the earlier announcement made by the student organization that a drive against the running of unrecognized schools, the student body led by the Secretary General Premchand and Secretary, Secondary Education and Academic Affairs, Th Premchandra conducted a drive in the schools located in the nearby Imphal area and undertook the verification of the seven schools, with some operating with sign boards in the front of the school written as being recognized by the government.
The seven schools on which verification has been carried out include USHUM school of Soibam Leikai with class 1 to 5 without government recognition, North Eastern English school of Khabeisoi from class 1 to 10 with proper recognition, Afrosh Higher Secondary School of Khabeisoi from class 11 to 12 standard without recognition, Albert school and Bal Bikash school, Top Khongnangkhong both with class 1 to 10 but the recognition of the school upto class 8 only, and St Paul school of Soibam Leikai with the proper affiliation from CBSE, he said.
He requested to all the parents and guardians to check whether a school is recognized by the concerned authority before admission of his or her children. He also warned schools operating without proper Board affiliation to take down the sign boards that state they are being recognized. He further said that DESAM will complain to the concerned authority regarding the illegal nature of such schools.
