IMPHAL, January 10: The Manipur Film Development Corporation today organized a press briefing at the MFDC complex regarding the “Re:play International Media Workshops” which is presently underway since January 7 at the same venue.
Speaking to media persons, Somi Roy the Festival Curator said, “We need to make a festival that is appropriate to Manipur. We are known for our love and appreciation for performances”. Elaborating further he said, ‘Re:play’ indicates to the replaying of films from the “selections of the selections”.
The films which are being shown during the workshop are also films are being shown in New City under the same film package, he said.
Deirdre Towers, one of the resource persons in the workshop said, “Everyone viewing the films should try to know the intentions of the filmmaker and the message therein”.
L. Surjakanta, Chairman of Film Forum said that the films which are being screened at the Re:play Festival at the MFDC Complex are not available at the market. “The Re:play festival would impart knowledge about films and consequently it would help enhance the quality of Manipur film productions”, he continued.
Another resource person, Iben Trino Molenkamp said,” I’m very happy to do this workshop. My workshop is mainly focused on documentary films. It is a very creative process and I’m trying to reconstruct various documentary films and make a high quality documentary ensemble.”
The press meet was also attended by Managing Director, MFDC, Sobita and Alexandria Viets.
