IMPHAL, January 27: Unidentified person fired some round of bullet at the residence of Thokchom Kirankumar, Director Treasury and Accounts at Wangkhei Angom Leikai at around 8.50 pm.
The security personnel posted at the Director`s residence also fired some rounds in retaliation but no human casualty has been reported in the incident.
According to the police, the incident occurred today at around 8.50 pm. A loud sound was heard from the southern side of the Director`s residence and within a few seconds, the sound of a few rounds of bullet were heard, following which, the MR personal fired back.
It may be mentioned that the Director had only settled in the area one year ago. The original residence of the Director is at Malom Tulihal Makha Leikai. It may also be noted that the Director`s wife is also a director of the Social Welfare Department.
It is not clear whether there were nay extortion demands being served on either of the two officials. Family members have also denied from making any comments on the incident today.
