Governor greets

IMPHAL, Jan 25: The Governor of Manipur, Shri Gurbachan Jagat in his message has greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of Republic Day 2013 and extended his best wishes. The governor recalled that on this day in 1950, India’s constitution came into force and the declaration of India as a sovereign, secular and democratic republic and from that day onwards, the Indian constitution has been the guiding principle of the nation. Stating that we should pay our homage to the founding fathers of the constitution for their insight and understanding, he continued that the young Indian democracy has stood firm against adversaries and it is our responsibility towards the valiant freedom fighters to make our nation a leader amongst the comity of nations. “Successive elections have shown the power of the ballot and the will of the people and we are all proud citizens of a democratic nation,” the message said.

Further the governor asserted that India with young population is on the verge of emerging as leader among the nations and stressed the urgent need to channelize the talent and potential of our youth to make a positive impact on society. Expressing his desire to work together to make our country a strong, peaceful and prosperous nation, he urged the people to resolve to uphold and promote the secular, socialist and democratic values enshrined in our constitution and work together in making  our country a leader among the nations.
