    IMPHAL, January 13: Md Alim, Secretary of the Social Working Committee, Irong has alleged that the family of Md Amar (22) son of Md Tomba  Shikhong Leikai, Yairipok has reneged on an agreement over the later`s elopement with a minor girl. Saying that the boy`s family had signed a bond paper in the presence of Md Abdul, local Pradhan of Salam Irong Chesaba Gram Panchayat under which Md Amar`s family had agreed to give compensation to the girl`s family in the form of a sum of 1.50 lakhs or 5 mohor of gold on 10 January before 2 pm . Md Alim claimed that on the day the of agreement, the boy`s family handed 15 thousand in cash and left behind one TATA magic (Aris) without registration number as surety. The vehicle was kept in the premises of the local Pradhan`s house, he said.

    Saying that the remaining agreed amount of money has still not been given by the boy`s family despite the agreed upon time frame expiring,  Md Alim further claimed that a team of Thoubal commandos led by an ASI came to the house of their local Pradhan and tried to take away the vehicle which had been left at the Pradhan`s house as surety over the agreement. However, locals of the area prevented the police team from taking away the vehicle.
