IMPHAL, January 29: Govindas Konthoujam, Minister of Commerce and Industries, Sericulture, Vety and Animal Husbandry today re-opened the Khadi Gram Udhyog Bhavan, Paona Bazar during a simple function organized by the Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board, Lamphelpat.
The Khadi Gram Udhyog Bhavan is located inside the Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, Paona Bazar.
O Nabakishore Singh, Principal Secretary, Commerce and Industries attended the function as the president, while B John Tlangtinkhuna, Director Commerce and Industries; S Achouba Singh Vice Chairman, Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board and S Ingoabi Singh, Secretary Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board as guests of honour.
Addressing the inaugural function, Minister Govindas said with the re-opening of the bhavan, Khadi products will be available again in the state. Elaborating on the reopening of the bhavan, the Minister said, due to financial constraint of the Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board, the Khadi Gram Udhyog Bhavan has been reopened with funding from the Commerce and Industries Dept. He said that a working capital of Rs 10 lakh will be further provided from the Handloom division to the Bhavan for its sustenance.
He said he had urged the Chief Minister for the provision of the Social Welfare Board site to the Khadi Udhyog Bhavan which the Chief Minister has approved.
The Minister said he will further urge the Chief Minister for more funding for the Khadi Board.
O Nabakishore in his presidential speech said the emergence of entrepreneurs is a good sign and will only lead to development. There can be no development without entrepreneurs, he said.
