IMPHAL, January 27: A Lok Adalat for motor accident claims cases relating to New India Assurance Co. Ltd. and electricity theft cases were held today at Cheirap Court Complex, Imphal, said a release of the Manipur State Legal Services Authority.
According to the release, there were two benches consisting of M Manojkumar Singh, ADJ, Manipur East as Chairman; Ch Momon Singh, Advocate and L Rebeda Devi, Advocate as Members and Ph Surendra Singh, Retd District Judge, Manipur East as Chairman, Md. Abdul Qayum, Advocate and K Manorama Devi, Advocate as Members.
Out of 27 motor claim cases put up, 6 cases were settled for a total compensation of Rs.12,83,000 with respect to electricity theft cases, a total of 18 charge sheeted cases were put up in the Lok Adalat and 6 cases were settled and a sum of Rs. 13,400 was collected in the proceedings, it said.
A total number of 56 non-charge sheeted cases were put up and 32 cases were settled with a recovery of a sum of Rs. 44,800. Accordingly all electricity cases were disposed of, it added.
