Memorandum over Chandel incident submitted to Central leaders

IMPHAL, January 18: The State representatives of all the national political parties of the state, who were part of the All Political Party delegate have met with their respective party central leaders and submitted copies of their memorandum which was submitted to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.

This was informed by Dr M Nara, Secretary CPI and spokesperson of the delegate to IFP.

The national political parties who are part of the delegation are Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP; All India Forward Block, AIFB; All India Trinamool Congress, AITC, Nationalist Congress Party, NCP; Bahujan Samaj Party, BSP; Lok Jana Shakti Party, LJP; JD (U); JD (S), CPI, CPM.

He said memorandums were submitted at the respective party offices to party leaders. The party leaders were also urged to support the demands of the state delegation. Considering the positive response of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister on the delegate’s demands; the visit of the delegate is a little late, he informed. “A solution to the issue could have been brought a long time back, had the delegation’s visit been a little earlier, ” Dr M Nara told IFP.

Home Secretary RK Singh has assured that the Ministry of Home Affairs will issue a notification with strong instruction to check all unwanted incidents like cases of kidnapping for ransom, robbery, use of bombs to threaten people, he said and added that the notification will be issued to the Army and central paramilitary forces deployed in Manipur.

The single sided view of the central leaders on the Indo-Naga peace process and its solution has now been corrected after the meeting between the state delegation and the Prime Minister, he said. The delegation will be returning to Imphal on January 20.
